Everyone knows that we are built of cells, which are built of several organelles and items, which are built of molecules, which are built of the smallest unit of matter, being atoms. This is part of biology. A field that has captivated humans for as long as it’s been around. This field is rapidly growing and evolving every single day. New technologies, uses, and practices are developing at a faster and faster rate. One of these fields is computational biology. This is a multidisciplinary field that combines math, computer science, and biology. This has changed the way scientists look at biology, and has opened new fields of study, and improved our understanding of biology, and life as a whole. Computational biology allows us to utilize and apply computational methods, in order to analyze vast amounts of biological and genetic data. This allows scientists to draw parallels and analyze vast amounts of biological matter. This field is growing in its relevance, and the field of computational biology is only set to grow, due to the vast demand for computational biology majors, as healthcare and research institutions place a greater emphasis on this already growing and important field.
