“Computer, shut of the lights!”; and the lights would go off.
I loved watching Dexter’s Laboratory because he had powers I wished I did; the power of technology; the power of AI. I wanted to talk to my technology too. I was going to build it at some point; and here we are.
We have been working hard to build an AI Assistant with impact. We designed and trained a neural network capable of understanding human sentences, detecting what the user is trying to do and who they are trying to connect to. Once these variables have been predicted by the neural network, it reaches out to the correct service on behalf of the user
Clive AI is not an AI project that paints a nice picture based on a description or relays everything to Open AI’s servers, It is an AI product built around personal impact. We built a product that uses the great things about AI to provide actual tangible convenience. The software foundations have been laid and they are strong, we must now focus our efforts on human-centric design; building software that understands and adapts to its user.
Think of Clive AI as an assistant that saves you the time of having to log into each individual app to do stuff. Clive provides a marketplace/menu of your favourite apps for you to integrate with. Once you authenticate, integration happens and a user can speak to and utilise said app. For Instance, a user can open the app, integrate their Google account and then say “Hi Clive, what is my day like?” and Clive will send a request over to Google’s servers to get the user’s calendar events for that day. Another instance of Clive’s impact is when a user says “Hi Clive, I need a ride home”. Clive knows that this user is requesting a ride service and if the user has integrated their Uber account, Clive will pass the request over to Uber along with coordinates.
Each Clive user has a Social Profile and a Financial Profile. These two profiles work together with the Clive Integration Module (CIM) to provide a wholesome experience to users.
It doesn’t get more personal than Social Media. Most of the social media platforms have APIs and Clive is leveraging these APIs to personalise how our users consume Social Media.
Our goal with Clive is to build an assistant so integrated with ones self that a user can send money from their account to Twitter user @johndoe_ simply by saying it.
Clive will help its users organise their time, their mental state and their physical state by showing positive tweets (if the user says so) and giving healthy reminders based on the user’s consolidated Google and Microsoft calendars
Our relationship with Plaid and Dwolla is strong. It gives us access to a lot of financial capabilities. Now, when a user joins Clive, we can simply ask If they’d like to launch a recommended (but optional) Clive Standard Balance; more on this later.
American account holders will, through the Plaid APIs and Dwolla APIs, have the ability to carry out transactions by commanding Clive. Users simply authenticate their accounts once and Clive will build a Financial Profile for the user giving them access to financial capabilities..
We take our users’ data very seriously and believe that Privacy is the most important part of an AI-enabled future. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit and the data Clive will amass via its services and its partners will be invaluable.
Think of Clive as not a single piece of software of product, but an ecosystem of moving parts interacting to provide a service to its users. There are 3 main components (at the moment) and the modular set up of Clive means scalability for the project
The Mobile Application is designed to function with the sole purpose of spiking user productivity. Upon logging in, you are greeted with a home screen with default widgets that provide you general updates on a higher level. The Clive app is, more than anything, a personal assistant that wants to hear what you have to say so we placed the mic icon in a very visible position — sort of like a walkie talkie.
Going deeper, a user can immediately start talking to Clive. Ask Clive what the weather is like, or what your day is like, or how much is in your bank account and Clive will respond with a unique widget depending on your request.
Clive was created to access your apps on your behalf so you don’t have to. Once you are in the Clive app, you just have to integrate you Google account one time, or your Uber and from that point onward, you can tell your assistant to summarise emails from Gmail or order you a cab. In the app, Clive has an Integration Hub where you can browse Partner Services that are available for integration — think App Store.
Once you start talking to Clive, your command is sent over to the Clive NLP Layer. The NLP Layer is a neural network comprising of a combination of a fine-tuned version of the Llama 2 model from Meta and a proprietary Command Execution Model we designed strictly to understand human sentences, what they are trying to do and which Partner Service the user is trying to call on.
For Instance, if a user says “Hi Clive, I need a ride”, the NLP layer will:
- understand that you need a cab.
- It will then look for any integrations you have with ride-share services.
- If it finds one, Clive will create a nice request packet and send a request over to the Clive API Service with your data and coordinates.
- Clive will then generate and send a response to you, the user.
The Clive API Service has one job; it is responsible for receiving a request packet from the NLP Layer and relaying this request over to the appropriate Partner Service.
