I. Introduction
My hobby is taking care of tropical fish. When friends or family come over to my house, the first thing they say is to compliment my fish tank. From the striking blue-red stripes of the Neon Tetras to the ghostly glowing blue eyes of the African lampeyes, is it always a conversation starter. I would explain to them the names of the different tropical fish I have. Then I thought, won’t it be fun if AI could automatically label the different fish through computer vision. That is when I started my Tropical Fish Detector project.
This AI is capable of differentiating and labeling 5 different types of tropical fish that I own: Neon Tetra, Siamese Flying Fox, Ember Tetra, African Lampeye, and Rummy Nose Tetra. I chose these 5 because they are widely used among tropical fish enthusiasts, and also because they are one of my favorite types.
