I am sure most Machine Learning enthusiasts will be very eagerly wanting to jump into the field and straight away do something big. This is where 80% of people make a mistake and end up giving up on Machine Learning. To fix this, one must understand the working and concepts of Machine Learning before doing anything big. In this article I will be telling you about how I learnt Machine Learning.
It’s important to have a basic understanding of what machine learning is and its key concepts. Before starting to learn Machine Learning, learning statistics is very essential. This is a must. Later familiarize yourself with terms like supervised learning, unsupervised learning, regression, classification, and neural networks. Machine learning is a broad field, so you might want to narrow down your learning goals to areas like linear regression, decision trees, neural networks, or deep learning, depending on your interests and needs.
So the first step is learning statistics for Machine Learning, what Machine Learning is and what are the different fields in it. The next step is to learn the basic concepts and models of ML. And then comes applying them to projects. To learn about the concepts the below ways will be helpful.
Google Machine Learning Crash Course
This is one of the best free Machine Learning courses out there. I strongly recommend anyone eager to learn about ML to do this course. Though this course doesn’t provide any certification upon completion it is a very informative course to learn about the fundamentals and workings of Machine Learning.
YouTube
YouTube is my favorite platform to learn Machine Learning. There are many YouTubers who make videos related to Machine Learning and data science. I recommend you pick just one of them and follow them. This will be a great guide to you in your journey to becoming a data scientist or Machine Learning expert. Just search for data science or Machine Learning on YouTube and you will find many YouTubers. They will explain to you about machine learning and its branches and also share their experience. Trust me, it will really be helpful to you.
Udemy/ Coursera
If you feel you need a very structured way of learning then the best thing you can do is buy a course on Udemy/ Coursera. They are online learning platforms that offer tons of courses. Udemy gives discounts on courses frequently and you can purchase courses at a very affordable cost during the time of the sale. Udemy courses contain only videos and do not include assignments. While Coursera courses are a bit expensive, most of their courses come with assignments and you get a certificate only if you pass them. This ensures you have understood the concept well. There are also other online learning platforms which offers many courses, but these are the platforms which I used.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT can be a helpful tool for learning machine learning concepts. You can use it to ask questions about specific topics, clarify doubts, or get explanations for complex concepts. For example, you can ask ChatGPT about the “difference between supervised and unsupervised learning”, and “What are the different fields in ML”. It is like interacting with someone who has good knowledge in this field.
Remember, these are only some ways I have mentioned that I personally used to learn Machine Learning and jump into the field of data science. There could be more ways out there and that is up to you to explore. Once again, statistics are very essential for ML, so learn statistics for Machine Learning before learning anything else.
That’s it. Start your journey towards learning Machine Learning today. And believe me, this is a very exciting field and has a lot of potential. So don’t wait, and start your journey. Good luck!!!
